With over a million in orders, I still chose today to walk away from a client I’d been pursuing for more than three months. From the very beginning, he was pressing me daily for budgets and purchase volumes; when I asked him about his decision, he said he was still deliberating. Later, after I quoted him a price, he countered with competitors’ rates, insisting that for this batch, I shouldn’t even try to make a profit—just offer him a special discount. I told him, “I’m already quoting you at a loss; no matter how much you push down the price, there’s simply nothing I can do.” He replied that he’d place all future orders with me, but I insisted: “I can’t take on this batch at these terms. If I’m already losing money on it, how am I supposed to keep going? Will I even have another chance?” Frankly, at this stage of Mingyu’s development, we’ve never relied on low pricing. Instead, we’ve built our reputation on rigorous control over quality, costs, and every aspect of operations. We go out of our way to help clients cut costs, keep expenses in check, secure fair pricing, deliver the best possible quality, and provide products with exceptional value. Practices like this—driving ourselves into exhaustion just to outdo our competitors—are absolutely something we must avoid. The sooner we let go, the sooner we’ll find relief; otherwise, the harder we push, the bigger the losses will be.
