As the owner of a cosmetics factory that has been in business for more than 20 years, I can tell you: sunscreen is the ultimate value-for-money product in the cosmetics category and a true anti-aging powerhouse—far from being some kind of “intelligence tax.” Just look at how intense UV radiation is these days; its penetrating power is astonishing. Glass and even clouds can’t block it, and it can actually reach the dermis, where it breaks down collagen, accelerating skin aging. Even just 20 minutes of sun exposure can trigger erythema, and prolonged cumulative exposure increases the risk of skin cancer. What’s more, the World Health Organization has unequivocally identified UV radiation as the leading cause of skin cancer. Seven years ago, I traveled to Hainan with my family, eager to put our factory’s sunscreen to the test. While we were out tide-pooling, I deliberately applied sunscreen only to one arm, leaving the other completely bare. After three months, the unprotected arm had clearly become darker and drier—two distinct degrees of difference compared with the sun-protected arm. Since then, I’ve made it a daily habit to apply sunscreen every time I go outside.
