Hello everyone, I’m Sister Huang from Mingyu Cosmetics. I’m 58 years old—a Hunan girl who came to Guangzhou more than twenty years ago and has been in the cosmetics business ever since, building everything from scratch. Many people ask me, “At your age, why are you still working so hard? You should be retired by now, enjoying a peaceful life.” That always reminds me of my journey when I first arrived in Guangzhou. Over twenty years ago, I left my state‑owned grain‑industry job and came to Guangzhou alone, looking for work. When I first got here, I didn’t know anyone or anything; the language was a barrier, and finding a job was tough. I lived in urban villages and worked in warehouses. Before starting my own business, I’d been in factories—doing quality control, managing inventory, handling HR and administrative tasks—and even traveling across the country as a beauty consultant. There were countless times I thought about giving up, but my lifelong dream and stubborn spirit told me: I had to put down roots here and carve out my own future. Back then, I wasn’t someone who cared much about skincare—I’d just wash my face in winter and head out. But by chance, I stumbled into the beauty and cosmetics industry, and I fell in love with it. I paid for cosmetology school to learn skincare techniques and earned my professional certification. At first, I only planned to open a small storefront, but when my husband’s partnership in the cosmetics‑raw‑materials business ran into trouble, I stepped in to help him start over. And so, over the past two decades, from youthful hair to silver strands, I’ve devoted the best years of my life to this industry. Looking back, my entrepreneurial path has been challenging, but I take comfort in knowing that, with my own hands, I’ve built a modern cosmetics factory and helped hundreds of partners launch their own brands, enabling them to achieve financial independence while also supporting my own livelihood and helping thousands of people look their best. Our skincare products are sold nationwide and have expanded overseas, reaching Southeast Asia, Europe, and many countries in North America. Even foreign customers can’t help but give a thumbs‑up, saying, “Good, very good.” Now, many people tell me that at nearly sixty, I should be resting at home. But I believe age is no barrier—as long as I’m willing and able to create value for society, my company, and my family, I feel this is the best phase of my life. Today, I want to tell you: no matter how old you are, you can accomplish anything on your own.
