Mr. Huang, you started your entrepreneurial journey at the age of 35 and have been in the cosmetics business for over 22 years. Do you think the market has changed? It’s undergone tremendous transformation. Back then, we communicated with customers face-to-face—there were no smartphones, not even computers, let alone online marketing or social‑media campaigns. I never would have imagined that, now approaching 60, I could still use short online videos to introduce myself to a wider audience. Moreover, the cosmetics industry has grown rapidly in recent years and become increasingly professionalized. More and more young people, including those with advanced degrees—and even returnees from overseas—are entering the cosmetics and beauty sectors. They bring fresh ideas, cutting‑edge technologies, and innovative marketing strategies. If you continue to operate as you did in the past—especially if you run a cosmetics manufacturing business—in this era of information transparency, failing to adapt will leave you behind.
So what do you suggest?
I believe that if you’re looking to start a business—or if you’re in the beauty industry and want to build your own brand—you need to deliver products with superior value for money and exceptional service that genuinely help your customers solve their problems. Only then will you have real growth potential. Otherwise, there simply won’t be any room to survive, because the market is incredibly competitive these days.
Mr. Huang, are you under pressure?
To be honest, it’s hard to say there’s no pressure at all. The market environment isn’t great these days, and there are plenty of competitors—some even bigger and better than us—making the industry highly competitive. But at Mingyu Cosmetics, we’ve been consistently building our core products and strengthening our unique advantages. We don’t feel overwhelming pressure, nor do we face direct imitation or attempts to surpass us. Of course, some people will copy good products—that’s only natural, right? It just shows your offering has real value. Still, knock‑off versions can never match the genuine article. Even with increased competition, we’ve never been outpaced, because we’re always refining and improving. Many of our best‑selling items have already reached their tenth generation—constantly seeking superior raw materials, better formulations, and enhanced services to deliver products with exceptional value. That’s precisely what most customers care about, isn’t it? However, we never respond to every single comment or critique; that wouldn’t be fair to anyone.
